This book was written in the 80’s and of all the King books I’ve read so far on my journey this one has aged the poorest. I couldn’t take my mind out of 2025 thinking. Between the plot revolving around gypsies. Fat phobia, misogyny, it has every negative stereotype that people say King employs in the worst way. While the story its self was engaging and I wanted to see how it played out. The main character was so unlikeable and I wasn’t rooting for him at all. This might be my least favorite King read but even at his “worst” he is still better than most.
