Zoe's Tale by John Scalzi
3.0

A good book that stands alone. I enjoyed learning a bit more about Zoe, but it suffers from a weakness that many other books (i.e., Enders Shadow) that attempt to do the same thing suffer from.

Books that retell history from the point of view of someone else in the same universe may be interesting, but they frequently suffer from a lack of dramatic tension. While there may be some personal tension in how a particular character becomes what they are, the overall dramatic tension of the story suffers because you already know how the story will end.
