Good read all up, I enjoyed it but it was a little tough going at times - mainly because of the darker subject matter to do with the social/world context, it was darker than I usually go for my romance books - important topics and generally well written.
I did find that the hits just kept on coming which was mentally draining but it was well done and I was totally invested.
Liked our MCs, strong and devoted; also liked the cast of side characters too so would be interested in reading the second in the series when it comes out in a few months 🤗
Definitely check trigger warnings though.

Graphic: Torture, Violence, War
Moderate: Bullying, Death, Gore, Blood, Medical trauma, Colonisation, Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Domestic abuse, Emotional abuse, Sexual assault, Slavery
A lot of these issues are told as between the Elves, humans, and trolls - mainly the humans and trolls.
Parental emotional abuse not on page but through heroines memories.
Please note violence is not between the heroine and hero, only incident between them happens early in the story when he is carrying her over his shoulder, and there is repetitive pressie against her stomach, she goes to vomit and he kind of tosses her off his shoulder and injures her wrist in the process but doesn’t realise this at the time. There is also a bit of emotional abuse (sort of - less malicious and more unkind I would say but this is short lived) from hero towards heroine at the start, surrounding her lack of knowledge about things like hygiene etc. I’m sure that Emma Hamm has more comprehensive trigger warnings on her website, these are the ones I could remember and they may be a little off as the context here is trolls and humans so I may have missed some nuances - which apologies if I did.
