Rise of the Cinder Fae by Whitney Dean
4.0

WARNING: I try not to do spoilers on my page... but there may be some in this review, number 7 specifically.

Ok, I have a lot of thoughts on this book so strap in.

1. I am a sucker for Cinderella retellings. The first 20% of the book was ok, the next 70% of the book was great, and the last 10% of the book gave me whiplash.

2. There was a lot going on in this book... the wish she made like 4 chapters in was very underwhelming and, to me, made me dislike the MFC a bit. Then there were a lot of side plot points that didn't feel like they fit together.

3. I LOVE the MMC and his sister in this book and just wanted him to have all the happiness in the world.

4. Though the title makes it sound like it is a big thing for the Fae to be a part of this book, the plot of the the Cinder Fae felt secondary to what was really going on. It makes it sound like the Fae are the primary main characters of this story, but that is just not the case. It more so paid a part in the end more than the rest of the book.

5. There were some things in this story that I really thought were going to be a bigger deal throughout it, but ended up not being the case.

6. There were parts of this story that were made to be a big deal, but came out of nowhere. Like I said above, the last 10% of this book gave me whiplash. SO MUCH STUFF HAPPENED, and some of that stuff popped out of thin air. I was like WTF just happened and then got mad because it just ended and I felt like more needed to be explained.

7. **Here is where a spoiler exists** Throughout the whole story you feel like the main female and male characters were fated to be together. Even though they weren't Fae, the way the story was written, even things they said, made it feel like these two should be mates and definitely would be if they were Fae. However in the end, when all the craziness happens, they ended up being mates only because of someone else's minor act. Like without the Cinder Fae Mates doing what they did, they wouldn't have ended up mates when they were "transformed".

All in all, I enjoyed most of the book. There was lots of spice, feelings, torment, tension, and great banter!
