The Mystery in the Margins by L.L. Gray

emotional funny lighthearted mysterious medium-paced

5.0

"The Mystery in the Margins" is a sweet tale of homecoming, magic, and women entrepreneurs -- and a riveting mystery. Until the very end, I wasn't sure who the real culprit was, or whether Harper would get her dream. I couldn't be sure what was going on with Granny Bea or with the Havenwood community -- which heightened the suspense! -- and I loved the whole idea of a magical safe place that also managed to make a living for itself. Havenwood is so unique: it's beautiful and whimsical, excellent with capitalizing on magic stereotypes, firmly professional (the police!), and problematic in the way that all communities tend to be as they face the change and growth of the real world. Although this book concludes this mystery, the characters themselves gave me reason to come back for future books. In summary, definitely recommend.
