dragontomes2000 's review for:
Failed Future
by Elise Kova
Much better in my opinion to the first two. Failed Future managed to expand on a lot of the dynamics of the story from world building to expanding the magic system. I also think this benefited from being paced very well. Sometimes I feel like with these books there is an explosive beginning, then there is a big lag in the middle, and finally reach a turning point at the end.
I said in my last two reviews that I was very keen to see the direction the story was going to take and I very proud to say that Failed Future really proved through for me in that regards. There were also some great character moments throughout which is great to see because I haven't fully cared for them. However it was nice to see some struggle and not convenience. You kind of get the sense that there is no hope for this world and these characters. That ending though was a nice direction to go in. I mean I particularly like the trope that was used if done correctly and in the sense of this book, definitely the right call.
I am proud to see Elise Kova grow as an author. I might not always die hard love her books, but they are so much fun. Time to see how the story plays out in book four!
