A welcome return to Anne McCaffrey's Pern (not the one envisioned by Todd).
The basic story will be familiar to those who read the original series, especially as this is one that's been seen from a couple of angles before, but the new insights are realistic and the characters remain true to themselves. (The only blip for me was the sudden introduction of nicknames.)
In short, I now have new Pern books to look forward to again.
