A Court of Silver Flames
by Sarah J. Maas
I’m definitely still not a Nesta sympathizer but her story grew on me. I can appreciate character development. The house being her friend is one of my favorite additions to the magical capabilities of the series. I was a bit disappointed in a few things. The first being the rush of an ending. This wasn’t an “all hell breaks loose hold onto your butts” SJM ending, this felt way too easy and lacked any real challenge.
The second thing I found disappointing was that Nesta was the one to deal with Emerie’s cousin and not giving Emerie closure and then Nesta didn’t even get to finish at the top with the other girls? I understand the significance of Nesta staying behind and putting them before herself and all that but could we have maybe given her that at the top of the mountain? A fake waystone orchestrated by the Queen/Koschei? I found myself feeling bad that she went through all that for nothing but I guess symbolism or whatever. Nesta was rockin’ the stair climber only to literally be the one stuck at the base of the pass.
Also. I have now hyper fixated on this weird thing where SJM wrote that Nesta was able to just change her anatomy to have an Illyrian baby now? Also why does she need that? Wasn’t the whole point that Feyre conceived the baby while in Illyrian form? Did I miss the part where Nesta can now do that? But then following this weird line of thinking that’s been created….Nesta changed Feyre and herself but what about Elaine? Sweet summer child is gonna give Lucien the boot any day now and latch onto Azriel before we know it so by that theory, “we won’t have to do this again” is most certainly not true.
Anyway. Cauldron altered uteruses aside. I’m hoping the next book gives us more Az, more Morrigan, more human lands throuple explanation & maybe (dare I even say it) a redemption for Tamlin. Or maybe Elaine burns it all to the ground like some of you are really rooting for lol.
All that to say, I am still just as hooked on this series as ever. It’s been great to get back into reading.
Onto Throne of Glass!
