So incredibly slow for the majority. Focused on characters that weren’t interesting or enjoyable - I skipped whole sections of the author character and I found the writing repetitive and obnoxious. The last hundred pages are interesting, and then
incredibly, needlessly gorey
.  Unnecessary, overall. Interesting premise, terrible execution.
