Princess in Waiting by Meg Cabot
3.0

Between a 3 and 4 star, but probably closer to a 3.

It's difficult remembering that Mia is fourteen because I keep expecting her to act like an eighteen or nineteen year old. In all honesty, her thought process (crazy as it is) isn't all that different to what I was like at fourteen. I really wish that I had these books when I was that age to be like "Look, Monica, you're not completely crazy!" I do wish that there was less "OMG MICHAEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and more "I like writing. I'm good at writing. Self empowerment--YAY!" but hopefully there will be more of that now? *fingers crossed*

(Also, this book kind of felt like endless movie promo?)

Some of my favorite culture references:

- SMALLVILLE
- Listening to a Discman on the subway
- "[We] are going to have a great love, just like Jennifer Anniston and Brad Pitt." LOL
- Mia on Sabrina the Teenage Witch: "Totally awesome during the high school/Harvey years. Good-bye Harvey = good-bye show."
- Mia on Gilmore Girls: "Many, many, many, many, many, many cute boys. Plus it is nice to see single moms who sleep with their kid's teacher getting props instead of lectures from the Moral Majority." (!!!)
