this book is honestly everything to me. im speechless at how much i adored it. the way it deals with trauma and pain and death and darkness, and the complexities of identity wrapped up in all of that too, is stunning.

it helps that i love this world and the characters so much anyway, but this was so well-done. the different levels of closure wrapped in hope was so gorgeous.

i truly want to weep over this book and how much i loved it.

i will say you definitely can tell this was co-authored because it had much more of a YA feel and i think rick tends to have a better balance of describing what’s happening to the characters and to the setting. there were also several typos in this - idk who copyedited this but oof lol. but none of that took away from my feelings about this book, partly because i do enjoy reading about things about and in the same style that this was done in, and honestly? the comfort and nostalgia tied into trauma and queerness and darkness and love hits me in the best places.
