Icebreaker by Hannah Grace

4.0

Icebreaker is a college hockey romance featuring reverse grumpy x sunshine, found family, and lots of sweet and steamy moments. The story follows Stassie, a disciplined figure skater striving for the olympics, and Nate, a charming hockey captain heading to the NHL after his senior year. When the two end up sharing a rink, Nate is determined to get Stassie to be his friend and maybe more, but, that is easier said than done when she is just as determined to ice him out. However, when Stassies' skating partner gets injured, Nates steps up to help her and the two quickly learn how well they fit together.

I can see why so many people like this, it's very approachable and as the story and romance progresses between Stassie and Nate, it gets better and better. However, while I did like this quite a bit, there are definitely better hockey romances out there. I especially struggled with the first half of the book, but from there things picked up when Nate and Stassie established their relationship. I think what sets this apart and makes it so readable is the found family and how enamored Stassie and Nate are with each other. Nate is an absolute golden retriever who wants nothing more than to make Stassie happy and while Stassie was slow to warm up to him, once she commits she is so kind and healthy for Nate. I am excited to read about mysterious Russ in the next book, but, what I'm most excited for is Henry's story; why is he so cute!?!?!
