“’He says psychic because there’s not really a word for me.’ I lifted my hands in illustration, graphing what I tried to say in the air. ‘What I’m actually doing is reading your energy. You know the Chinese tradition of chakra points? It’s something like that, only there’s actual energy lines. I can tell a lot of things by reading those lines.’

‘And trust me, he saw a lot more than what he just said,’ Jim added with a pointed look at me. ‘For some reason, though, he feels like he has to keep the world’s confidences.’

‘I’m a criminal consultant, not a tattletale,’ I replied mock-sweetly.”

A.J. Sherwood is officially my go to author when I’m in the mood for some action and suspense without the usual angst.

Jon and Donavan kept an almost constant smile on my face as I read. I loved them as individuals, but the way they melted for each other…I can’t think of a word more apt then adorable.

The mystery and suspense stemmed from Jon and Donovan’s two open cases. Both sets of cases involved storylines that I felt to be engaging—although one of them was far more predictable than the other.

TL;DR: I enjoyed this low-angst, mystery-suspense romance, and I plan to read the next book some time in the near future.
