Jahanara: Princess of Princesses, India, 1627 by Kathryn Lasky
4.0
Jahanara was the daughter of the Indian Emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal. Her father so loved her mother that he commissioned the building of the Taj Mahal upon her death. Jahanara was a trusted adviser to her father whom she cared for in his later years and was later an adviser to her austere brother Aurangzeb when he became emperor. She never married and was quite intelligent and a book she wrote was found and published in the 1930’s. The author of this Royal Diaries book first learned about Jahanara while touring her rooms when she visited India. I was thankful to read this book and learn so much about the cultural and historical impact of the Moghul rulers that I knew so little about.
