Black Holes & Time Warps: Einstein's Outrageous Legacy
by Kip S. Thorne
A much needed deviation from the surface-level popular science books I used to normally read. Thorne goes deep into the history of the developments of some of the most interesting topics in physics and adds character and flavour to both the noted innovators and their discoveries.
Moreover, I love how he introduces some more meatier physics topics with good analogy and great use of diagrams; it felt quite academic and was very informative, especially if you take the time to chase up the footnotes in the back.
