Thank you to a fellow bookstagrammer for this recommendation!
I enjoyed this very spare diary of an 86 year old over the course of a year. The author found the actual diary that spanned 5 years and condensed/edited it.
Without the context of a more expansive diary, I never figured out who some people mentioned are. I appreciated how much I could figure out and how knowable the main character is in such few words.
This reminds me when I had a penpal in her 80s when I was in college.
I was sad when I realized how short this diary is. It’s 26 pages on my phone. If you need a quick (as in 30 minute) read to hit a number goal and appreciate a sparse story, definitely pick this one up!
