Heart in a Box by Kelly Thompson

5.0

Emma has had her heart broken. In a moment of weakness, she wishes her heart away. Just like that it is taken, now she can’t feel anything at all. According to the man that took it, she can get it back all she has to do it go out and find the pieces.

I really enjoyed this graphic novel. I thought the art was so expressive. I loved that our main character didn’t look like the “standard” beauty. She was curvaceous and spunky.

She was also a flawed character. I didn’t really love her but my heart did go out for her. I thought Emma was funny, but cruel. She was very single minded in her quest, that she hurt some people in the pursuit.

I do wish the graphic novel was a bit longer. I did think the storyline was rushed a bit, things could have been better explained . . . a cat could have been found.

I give this graphic novel an A-
