The Best of Me by David Sedaris
5.0

As usual, I LOVE David Sedaris! I was introduced to him in college when I had to read “Naked” and he’s been in and out of my life ever since. Each time I read or reread, I’m someplace different in my life and find a new appreciation. It was nice to revisit old favorites, as well as read some new ones. His writing always manages to evoke a relatability unlike any other. No other author makes me laugh out loud the way he does. Like many, I feel I know his characters or I have a shadow of that person in my own life. There’s a level of comfort his stories bring that lets you know the oddities of your life and your thoughts are not so odd after all. Interestingly too, is how his writing can connect so deeply with the reader that it makes one feel as though they too could be a writer. I think I’ll leave that job to David. He does it so perfectly!

I highly recommend the audio of this book and all his others. To hear it in his voice is an experience of its own.
