Hooked on Murder
by Betty Hechtman
A bit daft but still a good little cozy mystery. I’m new to crochet and reading this book finally made me understand what gauge is and why it’s important. And it did so concisely and in full keeping with the story telling.
Things I liked: good dogs, crochet, bookstore, California setting
Things that fell flat: dialogue unnatural at times, disregard for searching for justice/abuse of power in one of the detectives (just a really stupid subplot to drag out the story, and infuriating), undeserved animosity from a lot of different people toward the protagonist-simply too much, didn’t like the boyfriend we are probably supposed to root for
