The Structure of Scientific Revolutions
by Thomas S. Kuhn
A little overrated, but that is probably because I grew up in the post-Kuhn world with this paradigm notion already fully incorporated into my science education, thus making it seem somewhat obvious. If this concept was not obvious at the time of writing, which I assume, then what a wonderful idea! The writing is dense, but the underlying concepts are profound. It's actually a bit surprising they all fit in such a small book. This is effectively the Art of War for how scientists should think about their profession. The author is quite proud of coining the term "paradigm." I'll bet you knew the word but had never heard of this author before. Kind of like how many people don't know the word "meme" was coined by Richard Dawkins.
