I watched this movie for the first time earlier this week and became obsessed, so, of course I had to read the book. This was my first classic and I thoroughly enjoyed it. While I loved the movie, I loved the book even more.
I really felt we got more out of Darcy in the book than we did in the movie. For example: the exchanges in the book being more than what they were in the movie. How, when visiting Charlotte in Kent, their interactions were more than just the visit at Lady Catherine’s house. They spent many days walking along the same trail (which he just happened to be on every time she was) and that’s where they really seemed to get-to-know one another — where he seemed to really fall in love. Again, when he went to visit her at Rosings; their time spent was longer than a minute or two. I wish we had gotten that out of the movie, rather than it being as if they only met at random only so many times before he decided to confess his love.
Regardless, I still love both and this book has definitely become a personal favorite.
