Stain by A.G. Howard

Wow.

Just wow.

I adored this book so much. One of my guilty pleasure insta-buy tropes are fairy tale retellings (and necromancy but that's neither here nor there) so I'm surprised at myself for holding out so long to read this book but it was well worth the wait.

Stain is a beautifully gothic little fairy tale after my own heart. It's a book that you read slowly so as to better to absorb the story. It's a book with such a villainous villain that POV chapters from Griselda made my heart pound and lit the urge for me to throw the book against the wall in frustration. The little nooks and crannies of the two kingdoms made me want to up and move to Nezereth and Eldoria.

A.G. Howard weaved together such a beautiful and complex tale of love and loss, magic and spite, and perseverance through life's greatest hardships. This is was my first book by her and boy, will I be picking up more.
