Wow, this was utterly brutal, but definitely one of the best splatterpunks i’ve ever read! It kept my attention the entire time, and was just the right amount of disturbing and gross! I think the author handled the main topic pretty well by not going into too much detail about what happened to the child victims, and it was very satisfying reading about child abusers getting what they deserved. I did find the final chapter quite difficult as I don’t think Damien’s sister deserved to be involved in his comeuppance, but I guess it also leaves open the question of whether the whole family was involved in the crimes or if Hailey truly was innocent?
I would absolutely recommend this book if you have a strong stomach and can handle reading about very dark topics. Absolutely check trigger warnings though!
