The Man Who Walked Through Walls by Marcel Aymé

4.0

Fantastic collection of stories of fantastical realism. These are substantially developed short stories with full sense of place, character, and time - even when time doesn't work the way we think it should. The style and undertones are definitely 1950's French - every character has a sense of being in their own personal world.

Perhaps most surprising is I'd never heard of Ayme before. Shortly into the first story I realized I wanted to read more of his writing, and that belief didn't waver throughout the book - and lives on after.
