Lords of the North by Bernard Cornwell
5.0
adventurous tense medium-paced

Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

This book is the first one in the series that focuses more on Uhtred's journey rather than the plot. I loved it. Uhtred is still young and proud but for the first time he acknowledges his limitations and understands fear. It was a nice change from the first two books where Uhtred constantl saved saved the day.
