This is on the verge of New Adult, in my opinion. YA style and beats, but a protagonist who behaves like an actual young adult, not a teen. That’s perfectly fine.
The first quarter is an absolute blast. Perfect science fiction dystopia cyberpunk delightful nonsense. The dramz are always tiresome, to me, and I would have preferred no romance and better development for any of the side characters. The climax was great (albeit not a surprise to me), but the denouement was a cop out. Coulda been better. Still, I had fun reading it, and as I’m neither a young adult or a new adult, I was happily surprised.
