Forever... by Judy Blume
2.0

I felt like that the book focused more on the sex story than the actual relationship and Michael and Katherine's character development. I know that that is kind of what the whole point of the novel is, and I think it was great that it focused on female sexuality, but I would have liked a bit more development in other aspects of the story as well. I did not particularly care about any of the characters. I know teenagers are horny and whatever but it felt like literally every time they met up everything just led to sex, that there was nothing else between them, even when he came to visit her because her grand-father had just died...
I also felt like Blume was kind of laughing at teens who think they are "in love," and while that may sound funny to adults, if I had read that as an adolescent in love I think I would've been annoyed that the author was dismissing the whole thing; it felt like Katherine just flitted from one to the other in no time.
The ending just felt like the author didn't know how to finish the story, it felt very rushed. I expected the second love interest to arrive much earlier and develop more slowly.
I looooove Judy Blume but I prefer her books for pre-teens and children, it feels like there is a lot more character development (although, as my teacher pointed out, the lack of character development might be to help teenage girls portray themselves as the main character in this common type of situation).

PS: has anyone ever noticed how often Judy Blume uses the name "Peter" ? Not in this book but in other ones... (The Fudge series, Just As Long As We're Together, Sally J. Freedman) And an incredible amount of ellipses as well, which is alright but sometimes it makes me feel like all the characters are really slow speakers.
