While landscaping his backyard Paul finds an iron door. His long time friend Jay, talks him into exploring what’s behind the door. A decision they both quickly regret. They end up trapped in an recurring nightmare that is twisting and blurring the lines of reality so much that they begin to question their own sanity. The creativity is amazing in this book. Like a continuous dream walk that gets stranger and more ambiguous the longer you spend traveling in its endless maze. Only to be consumed by it, mentally, emotionally and then physically. Truly enjoyed the vivid world building. With that being said, what did not work for me was mostly the character of Jay. His poor jokes made for some uncomfortable moments. Overall an interesting premise, quick pacing and creative world building.
