The Afterlife of Holly Chase
by Cynthia Hand
I'm gonna start by saying that I absolutely love this concept! That every year there's a company that works on changing the life of another grumpy soul is awesome and I loved learning the inner workings of such an operation. I particularly enjoyed It made me tear up; the writing was great there. I enjoyed the cast of characters at Project Scrooge and though I can see why a materialistic girl like Holly would fixate on her assistants' outfits, it got annoying that she would describe it every time.
Speaking of which there were times I absolutely hated Holly, but then again I think that that was the point. The decisions she made through a good chunk of the book were completely selfish and just to keep Ethan around. It drove me up a wall. But the big reveal at the end was like a sigh of relief and redeemed her in my eyes.
I give this five stars because although the main character made me wanna punch a wall and there were moments of predictability, it's still a refreshing type of Christmas story
