The Armageddon Rag
by George R.R. Martin
When I began to read this, I wondered when the sci fi/fantasy would kick in. After all, that was how it was classified in the bookstore, yet I found myself reading about a rock band that had broken up after its singer had been unfortunately murdered at the height of their fame. However, stick with it. The story becomes more complex and intriguing in true Martin fashion as you go on. This novel might've been ahead of its time as I appreciate it so much now but obviously didn't read it when it came out.
