The Courage to Be Disliked: How to Free Yourself, Change Your Life, and Achieve Real Happiness by Fumitake Koga, Ichiro Kishimi

challenging hopeful inspiring reflective medium-paced

Getting around to this thanks to the recommendation from SUGA of BTS, a former manager and book twt at NYE (aka the final push). At first, I couldn’t grasp being told that all problems were interpersonal relationship problems having gone through severe workplace conflict and burnout, feeling exhausted from caregiving duties and jaded with life in general.

The conversational dialogue format was hard to follow with the book, and my initial reaction upon seeing “trauma does not exist” on the table of contents: R!U%KIDDING,ME? Even so, I’m glad that I picked up the audio book. I admit that Adler’s psychology challenged my current thinking to the core. But they don’t dismantle something without building something else back up! I teared up at several points of the book, resonating with the philosopher’s story about his father and on the guiding star. I’m planning to pick up a physical copy to take down notes and revisit this whenever.
