Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories
by Kelly Ripa
WOW! I really enjoyed these little long-winded-short stories.
To start off with - I do not really know Kelly Ripa. I did not go into reading this with an opinion of the author. And I feel like that could really skew the perspective of the reader. And to clarify, what I mean by "know" is that I know what she does for a living, but I am not her target audience - though for this book, yes, yes I am.
My sister in law actually gave it to me. I was complaining about our recent move out of NYC and into NJ and the short story regarding North Jersey and South Jersey had me cackling. I also learned about Central Jersey from someone whilst talking about this book.
Either way, I'm tremendously grateful my SIL sent me this book. It was fun, it was quick witted, it was engaging and entertaining... A 5, 6, 7, 8..
I've been sharing excerpts from this book with my friends who are going through similar experiences. For example, I sent a blurb to my best friend, a first-time mom, who was struggling with new mom anxiety. She was worried about her baby's breathing (just anxious, baby's fine!), so I shared Kelly's story about the newborn nurse - or lack thereof. My friend loved the humorous take on the MIL's "schedule" and asked me for more funny anecdotes.
I think it's a wonderful book and would recommend it to others. As a matter of fact, I'm lending out the very day I finished it.
