i came to this book having loved Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow and searching for a love letter to humanity like Anxious People. sadly, this book lived up to neither. i suppose it was in the genres list all along (i.e., the lack of "literary"), but it was pretty run-of-the-mill compared to the ingenuity of Tomorrow. it did almost make me cry at work, though.
