The first book in the Carls series didn’t really speak to me, and I put off reading the sequel for quite a while. I’m so glad I gave it a chance. A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor was weird, gripping, intellectual, hilarious, and somehow had me crying by the end. I also connected with the characters much more this time around (as compared to the first book).

If you want to chew on truly scary questions about AI and capitalism while still being reminded of how incredible humanity can be, this book is for you.
