There was so much telling instead of showing that I sometimes felt like I was just reading an outline of this story rather than given an opportunity for immersion. There was a lack of sensory details throughout, making every scene feel generic and devoid of description. Add in the odd pacing and constant whiplash of betrayals, and it was underwhelming overall. I felt very little while reading, and found myself not caring one way or another how things went.
