That Kind of Guy
by Stephanie Archer
4 ⭐️ I'm so in love with this series...
Admittedly, I read it kind of backwards because I read books #2 and #3 first, and I've only now circled back to this one. But I'm so happy I didn't just skip it because, although it's not favourite in the series, it still holds the Queen's Cove magic that I'm so addicted to.
Avery is the manager of The Arbutus, one of the best restaurants in Queen's Cove. Emmett has his own construction company with his brother, but when constant problems with the towns electrical wiring make his best friend and his family move out of town, he decides that he's going to run for mayor and fix everything that's currently wrong with the town. Avery gets the chance she'd been waiting for years with the owner of the restaurant decides to move out of town and wants to sell the restaurant to her... except she needs a loan that the bank is not willing to grant her. When Emmett realizes that his bachelor reputation is keeping him behind in the poles, he decides that he can help Avery get her dream while she helps him get his... The only problem is that she can't stand the sight of him!
This book was so cute, steamy when it had to, and just wonderful all around! It felt a bit rushed at times, and the whole fake relationship/engagement/wedding thing was so much, I really had trouble taking it all in, even understanding it's a book and the suspension of disbelief needs to be there to begin with.
But, overall, it's one of the cutest rom-com ever, with a sprinkling of enemies-to-lovers and a whole lot of fake dating! Just all the best tropes!
