I read a LOT of romance; it’s my main genre of choice. One thing that’s annoyed me over the last few years is how the male protagonists are almost always described as having Adonis abs, cut jawlines, and overall god-like appearances. Even when I discovered stories about curvy girls (love them!), the men are still described as being ridiculously handsome.

I know books help us escape and vicariously live through the main characters, but sometimes I just want a romance with realistic men, you know?

I loved, loved, LOVED this book! There are a lot of reasons why, but a big component was that the male lead Russell was self-described as having a “dad bod” and still being attractive and sexy. It was so dang refreshing to read about a woman who found her a man who was normal and yet still got her Happily Ever After.

The book also features dealing with ongoing mental illnesses, co-parenting, and horrible work environments that spur on the plot. It’s just such a good book! Highly recommend to anyone who loves heartfelt HEA romances.
