American Utopia by Maira Kalman, David Byrne
A friend handed this to me, and my only real context was that I knew there was a movie. Not what it was about, nor who was in it. Just that Spike Lee was involved. I had no clue how this book fit into the world of the movie.
After reading it, I still don't know. I am now aware that the movie is actually a filmed live production, and I discovered that David Byrne was part of The Talking Heads (obviously no, I'm not hip at all). The book itself reminded me of much less saccharine [b:The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse|43708884|The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse|Charlie Mackesy|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1579017235l/43708884._SX50_.jpg|68017220], but there were also the confusing place names (did the place names correspond with the thoughtful poetry fragments and illustrations -- still not sure).
In the end, I think I need more direction. I am definitely keen on seeing the show now, and maybe that will unlock some of the mysteries of this book.
