First of all, I just want to say that I love the term “crown shy” and it is such a perfect title. When Dec rides into his hometown and Mosscap points out to him the crown shy trees, giving space to each other to survive, I interpreted it as the trees knowing this is fine to stop and be here, it is okay to just go this far and I think it’s what the book has been telling me all along.

The world has become such a complicated place as I grew older that I didn’t know I needed a book to tell me that it’s absolutely alright to have no needs to have no wants to just want to exist as it is at the moment and enjoy it. I don’t need goals unless I want to or need to become something if I don’t. Knowing this and reading this book is such an immense comfort to me at this time. I cannot recommend it enough.
