This was one of my most anticipated releases of this year. A dark academia, fantasy horror is definitely right down my alley.
The premise was so promising but I feel the execution was sorely lacking.
I loved the vibes of this story and the atmosphere. The monsters and gore was great and I loved them so much.
However, the pacing felt all wrong. It felt like too much info crammed into not enough pages but also felt like we missed a lot of story that could of been great. I wished this had been a duology with the past in book 1 and the present in book 2 with the books more fleshed out. So much info was useless to the plot and would of been better served with more story.
I have heard great things about this author though so I will check out more of her work.
