I watched the Netflix adaptation, and thought I would give the book a go. If you're a fan of the adaptation I can say you will 100% like this.
The book is near enough the same as the Netflix series, however with the change being that the book is set in America compared to the UK (which the UK location is more fitting). It is very rare to see an adaptation being nearly word for word, but I enjoyed it.
Because I watched that series I could imagine the scenes more clearly, visualising the character and how they spoke just like the actors who played them. My favorite character in the book is definitely Shane, featured I would say more in the book than the series, is a really funny character who always has Maya's back.
The book ends like the series, where we learn who killed Claire and Joe, plus the whole sordid conspiracy of the Burkett family.
I think if I hadn't watched the Netflix adaptation I wouldn't have ever read the book, however I'm glad I did. I would 100% recommend it to someone who loves a thriller/mystery book, as now Harlen Corbin is now a firm favorite author.
