The Brain That Changes Itself: Stories of Personal Triumph from the Frontiers of Brain Science by Norman Doidge

Remarkable book that lead to major improvements in my mental health. I wasn't expecting the fascinating biographies as wells as the revolutionary science.  The second appendix has a useful insight about the way the certain mediums utilising the constant state of orientation effect (video games, movies) are changing the way our brains work - which suggests the value of balancing this with slower things (like deep reading).
