A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

I am utterly speechless after finishing this but I will try to share my feelings and experiences reading this amazing book.

Okay. I barely got out alive. There are so many happenings. So many that I could not contain it. It was fcking amazing. Sarah delivered this last book the very best she can. Hands down. I may have had some issues but nevertheless, this book deserves the highest rating.

Let's start with Feyre. I really love her character arc. Her growth from Human to Fae was just nicely done. It was not forced at all. From the first book, you will see how she is this fragile little human who cannot protect herself or so she was told. Then, she met Rhysand, Under the Mountain happened and it was just a blast. You see Feyre grew strong and make her own choices in ACOMAF and then slowly fall in love with Rhys. In ACOWAR, she was totally feisty and badass. This girl can definitely kick ass. Like what she did with Ianthe. Damn that was brutal. Aelin whateveryourlastnameis, watch out.

Rhysand. Do we still have to talk about him? I mean, everybody loves Rhysand! I must admit, in ACOTAR, I swear, I totally dismissed him. I was so confused with ppl saying they love Rhys and I'm like, we're talking about ACOTAR right? Who the fck is Rhys? He only appeared for like how many chapters again?
I was a total FeyLin trash. I love Tamlin to the core. I mean, this was Beauty and the Beast retelling. Feyre is Beauty and Tam is Beast. How can my ship go wrong? And then.... things happened. So let's say I totally went and swam across the ocean to reach the FeyRhys ship. Whooo! I'm not one to jump ship. When I have a ship, I totally go onboard and back them up. However, FeyRhys is different. You see their relationship develop from point A to point B. The shift was justified in my opinion. Unlike, Rowaelin that totally seems forced. Okay, I'm being my bitter self.

Moving on...
In ACOWAR, FeyRhys is just the perfect couple. In the sense that they give each other freedom to make decisions. Respect each other and encourage one another. I love how their relationship grew. It was just pure and genuine love.

Tamlin. I cannot talk about Tam without crying. I swear, the most that I have cried in ACOWAR was because of Tamlin's scenes. The first one was the battle with the king when Feyre and Az retrieved Elain. I was sure someone would come for Feyre but it still did surprise me when it was Tamlin! Goddamn it. He was just suddenly roaring behind her and leaped into her enemies. I'm like, I knew you are a good person Tamlin! You are not a fcking tool, aren't you?! And then, there was a scene when Feyre was struggling to fly since she hasn't had much training with using her wings.

"And with barely three steps to the edge of that cliff … A warm wind, kissed with lilac and new grass, blasted up from beneath me. A wind of—spring. Lifting me, filling my wings.
My feet rose. And rose. And rose."

Guess what? IT IS THE WIND OF SPRING!!! IT WAS TAMLIN!!! HE WAS HELPING HER ESCAPE THE KING WHILE HE WAS BLOCKING THE ENEMIES SO SHE CAN GO ON HER WAY! I was an emotional mess by that time. I knew Tamlin still had it in him and genuinely loves Feyre. It really does break me. My heart hurts for Tamlin but I know Feyre belongs to Rhys. He knows it too.
The scene where Rhys died and Feyre was begging Tam to give part of his powers to bring him back, messed up my emotions once more! When Feyre told him that she'd give anything, I knew Tam would not take advantage of it or use it for his gain. I had so much faith in him and I love how he kind of regained himself in this book although he was so broken.

"Tamlin stood there. Staring down at me. Those green eyes swimming with some emotion I couldn’t place.
“Be happy, Feyre,” he said quietly"

I NEVER KNEW WORDS LIKE BE HAPPY CAN MAKE SOMEONE CRY! HOW DARE YOU TAMLIN!
It would have been really perfect for me if there was a closure between FeyLin, like for them to to sit and talk things out. But I guess Maas is not such a big fan of closures since *ehem* Chaolaena never had their proper closure.

I have so much respect on FeyRhys in this entire book. I love that they did not shove it in Tamlin's face whenever they are together. I love the fact that Rhys believed in Tam. Also, when they stayed in the court of Dawn during the meeting, Feyre did not want to share a bed yet with Rhys because Tamlin was in the same roof. Idk if I read this right but that is total respect right there! I love Feyre! I know she doesn't need to since basically she doesn't owe anything or it was not her responsibility to spare his feelings. Idk if that was the intention though but nevertheless, I appreciate the gesture.

Can I just say how much I hate Ianthe?! Damn. That priestess deserves to die. Thank you Feyre. The scene where she was molesting my dear Lucien and his hands were bound, I'm like, holy crap you bitch get away from my man!!!!
Good thing badass Feyre saved Lucien's ass and have Ianthe smashed her filthy hands on her own. Ha! Remember not to get on Feyre's bad side! I also like when Feyre lured Ianthe and her troops to the weaver's house for her to eat like damn, that is awesome!!! Way to go Feyre!

Nesta. Nesta was one of my most favorite character in this book. She was just plain-bitchy, idontcarewhothefuckareyouorwhoareyouleavemebe attitude. I love how strong and vulnerable her character is at the same time. I wished there could have been a Nesta POV even just once. I would love to know what is going on in her mind. She is such an interesting character. I am still curious about the extent of her powers since she pretty much took too much from the Cauldron.

I also hoped there was more scenes between Cassian and Nesta. That tension building between them was just waiting to snap. Damn.

Lucien. Oh poor Lucien. Doesn't everyone just felt bad for Lucien? For one, he thinks he doesn't belong anywhere. His mate doesn't even like him. He doesn't even know that Helion was his father! He goes off to find Vassa and was entirely cut out half of the book. I just really, really want something to work for Lucien. Even just the thing with Elain but damn, why do Az and Elain had to be so cute, I'm already confused on who to side with. Ugh.

And fcking, Mor, just had to reveal she loves females. Okaaaay. I am totally fine with this diversity thing going on here. But the problem is Az. Az who had pined for the same girl for the last 500 years and she did not even bother to mention it. Az had been feeling sorry and unworthy for all those years because of it and she never did once considered that. I understand the consequence of having this secret out but she can just tell Azriel. Doesn't she trust him enough? They are friends for goddamn sake!

I still have a lot to say but I will go with my most favorite scene as the last. The heart-stopping battle with Hybern. Damn it. I love that Elain killed the King and then savage Nesta severed his head! Slay queens slaaaay!
Also, my heart broke when I thought Amren would really die! I was so relieved when she was returned as High Fae. Also, the scene with Rhysand dying, I was confident that he will live through it though. Because duh, Maas won't let Rhys die. People will kill her in turn.

I think that's it for everything I felt in the course of reading this massive book! It has been a whirlwind of emotions.

CONGRATULATIONS SARAH! IT WAS A GREAT END.
