The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez

Really disliked this one, quite frankly.

The whole 'cool girl' 'not like other girls' thing' is absolutely insufferable. When Josh described how Kristen was perfect throughout the book there was almost always something said about how other women would never do/be like this, etc.

I know that inability to communicate clearly is really a crutch in these sorts of books but holy shit is it annoying. Kristen and her treatment of the men in her life because she couldn't bother to have an honest conversation was nuts.

Spoilers:

I think the worst part of this book for me was the fact that infertility was a HUGE theme and plot point throughout the story, and then Kristen magically gets pregnant after having unprotected sex once to tie up the story at the end. Really felt like a shitty cop out that does nothing for people actually dealing with infertility.

Lastly, I really hated having Branden dying thrown into the plot. It felt like that was just an afterthought to get the two main characters together. It also felt like the pacing was way off - the first half of the book is this slow(ish) burn romance and within a few pages there's this insanely tragic set of events that changes everything, way too quickly.
