Teleosis: A Novel of Trauma and Transformation by Amy W. Vogel

adventurous challenging emotional mysterious sad medium-paced

4.25

I just read Teleosis a debut novel by Amy Vogel and what a ride it was. This book is so good, unique, and something I’ve never read before. It deals with trauma, alcoholism, and death of loved ones. I also enjoyed the religious aspects of this book.

Inira(FMC), has been chosen as High Priestess of Teleosis. She has experienced trauma, became an alcoholic, going through therapy and is learning how to heal. She has lost her first love Tomas, remarried to Francis and had a daughter named Emerie. Twenty years into her marriage she realizes that she may not be as in love with Francis as she thought.

She goes on a business trip where she meets Mattias and shocked to find out he is Tomas’ twin. They instantly feel a connection and fall in love. Mattias has a son named Lukas. Mattias is a serpent and serpents have no respect for women.

There is some world building in this and the ending was crazy. I have to say that Emerie and Lukas were my favorite characters and I hope they get their story told. This was book was really enjoyable and I highly recommend it. I was given this book as an ARC for my honest thoughts and opinions.
