Every other book in the Ranger’s Apprentice universe, including Brotherband, has references to magic or potential magic - saying it is less than 1% of the time. There is never any real magic though, it’s always something else or maybe hypnotism, but this book crossed over to full blown wizardry so fast I was shocked. I was sure the ending would reveal a trick because it felt so out of place.
