I loved this world completely. The story has a pretty classic revolutionary background, but the world is unique and well described.
While the characters are fleshed out well, their growth is more telling than showing. This is one of the few times I think a book would have benefited by being longer - not more plot, just more bridging.
The romance aspect was a little abrupt for me. It is pretty discretely written and involves two women to up the forbidden love aspect. It was the sort of gentle romance I think most people imagine in YA novels.
