A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry

3.0

The book like all Rohinton Mistry's books takes place primarily in Mumbai during the time of political turmoil. In this case it's the Indian Emergency and the sterilization drive that took place mid-70s
Even though this is hailed as Mistry's best work (probably because of the way he allows the reader to picturize the world he has created.) I pre Family Matters over it.
The entire story has a melancholy feel about it and the "tone" doesn't really change.
It follows 4 people who have all led tragic lives and who are tied together not only because of their daily meetings but their common knowledge of what it's like to lose a loved one.
