Dark Notes
by Pam Godwin
Dark Notes is undeniably steamy, with a provocative and mature tone that keeps the reader hooked. However, the storyline delves into profoundly uncomfortable territory, as the protagonist’s journey is overshadowed by her dependence on being “saved” by her older, authoritative music teacher. While the writing is compelling and the tension between the characters is palpable, the power imbalance and her barely legal age make the romance unsettling. The emotional weight of the protagonist’s struggles is significant, but her need for a knight in shining armor undermines the strength and autonomy she could have displayed. This book pushes boundaries but might not sit well with all readers.
