this is actually a dnf... but since i got over 350 pages in, i'm counting it!
and this is a very disappointing review. the premise had potential because i do love my office banter-y romances where they dislike each other but can't fight their attractions and they manage to realize, after getting to know each other due to proximity, that the other isn't so bad. i love when the guys are so obsessed with the girl that it frustrates them.
but, and i'm sorry to say, the way this was executed was frustrating. the pacing of the romance, the sudden chemistry, the whiplash in the distrust and the attraction--it felt very off. like there were passages that i liked, but then when you put them with the rest of the book, it feels like a debut. (is it??? i don't think it is??)
and then not to mention, i genuinely thought ally and dominic were in their early to late 20's with how they acted and talked and came off--it was a big turn off that they were actual a decade older than they actually were. and i managed to pretend for a while that that wasn't their age, but at some point, just remembering it was nothing in my frustration to them in general.
the one star is because i did like the sweet and considerate moments dominic had.
